Beauty Blogger Of The Week: Amelia Liana Of ‘Liana Beauty’ Tells Us About Meeting Her Beauty Idols

The 20-year-old blogger shares her favourite beauty products and offers top tips from products that survive the heat to saviour lip balms. Read our exclusive Q&A to find out more...

Grazia Daily: How long have you been blogging?

Amelia: I’m fairly new to the blogging world as I only started my blog in January.

Grazia Daily: What made you decide to start your blog?

Amelia: Friends would always come and ask me advice on my smokey eye makeup, how I achieved volume in my naturally flat hair and what mascara made my lashes appear so long. This inspired me to have a place with odes to my favourite products that everyone could read.

Grazia Daily: What’s been your highlight so far?

Amelia: A definite highlight of blogging is when I receive an email, tweet or message from a reader telling me that they love a product I recommended or in general saying they enjoy my blog. It puts the biggest smile on my face!

Grazia Daily: Are there any particular perks of blogging?

Amelia: Meeting people I admire like Frederic Fekkai and Trish McEvoy who have created life changing products. It was particularly interesting hearing from Trish about how her award winning brush range started. She decided there were no brushes available that were perfect for her so cut up her existing brushes to the exact shape, length and size she desired.

Grazia Daily: Where do you get your inspiration?

Amelia: I get most of my inspiration from my friends and family. Hearing them complain about a product that’s not working for them, wanting to improve their skin or not knowing about an eyeliner that doesn’t tug at their eyes.

Grazia Daily: Blog brag time - why should people read your blog?

Amelia: The point of beauty products is to improve or enhance natural assets. Whether that purple eyeliner compliments brown eyes or the gold eyeshadow enhances brown eyes. This is something I strive to achieve and note down in my blog, which acts as my online beauty journal.

Grazia Daily: What advice do you have for anyone starting a blog?

Amelia: I don’t think there are any ‘rules’ to starting a blog – believe me I tried to find some! Write about what you love and your passion will come across. A basic camera will do – even the phone cameras are fantastic now, especially the iPhones. Blogger is an great platform to start on and is easy to navigate.

Grazia Daily: Which other beauty blogs do you love?

Amelia: Jennifer Rosellen for her amazing mascara recommendations. What I Heart Today is an all round blog I adore, especially for her skincare and makeup choices. Everything that’s on Smooch Blog I know I’ll need to add to my list – she has amazing taste. I love Essie Button, especially her videos she makes beauty fun and entertaining. The list could go on forever but these are a few!
