Hot damn, they've done it again. Everyone's favourite British heritage brand, Burberry, have once more created a covetable beauty look at their London Fashion Week show that's as effortless as it is chic. With all the fuss around French women and Parisian beauty being the epitome of style, we see this as a quiet reclaiming by Burberry of undone cool being distinctly British.
Frequent Burberry collaborater and makeup artist extraordinaire, Wendy Rowe, created a smokey eye and nude lip combo for each girl that was a little out of the ordinary. When Burberry do catwalk makeup, they tend to favour the natural, so while each model still had radiant, bare-looking skin, we were thrilled to see Wendy & co mix it up with this smokey, smudgey eye and pinky lip. It was rockabilly grunge meets country girl fresh.
The hair, too, was more 'done' than Burberry of seasons past. With big and loose, yet still defined, curls swishing down the runway atop each model's head, the girls perfectly straddled the divide between high octane glamour and the unfussiness that we've come to associate with Burberry. It was a breath of fresh air to see Burberry go for glamour, whilst still staying true to their roots.
We’d be lying if we said we didn’t detect a 70s vibe at the show – big floppy hats and round sunnies aside, the soft, but full brows proved fashion love’s affair with the grooviest decade isn’t going to be over any time soon. We’ll bring you more exclusive scoops on the products used as we get it, but until then, you can see the whole show in the gallery below...
