Some days (okay, 90%), our lunch break is spent sat at our desks staring down an ever-growing inbox while we fork at yesterday’s leftovers. Bleak. As over half of us (52%) are already spending this hour-off surfing the web we might as well be productive about it.
Since it’s December there’s no escaping the fact that winter is here and it’s set to stay this way for many months more. It’s time to hit reset on our wardrobes and pack away the flimsy cotton jumpers and make way for festive sweaters, sparkly dresses and heels that look better than they fit (after an evening of non-stop dancing, that is). If last year’s offerings look sadder than you remember or - worse - moth eaten consider filling in the wardrobe gaps with this months’ edit of what to buy judging your lunch break...
Friday - Boden, Velvet Sequin Dress, £45-51
If only they made this shimmering velvet and sequin party dress for adults. Never mind, we know several little girls who will absolutely adore this glitzy gown as a Christmas gift.
Thursday - Alighieri, The Infernal Storm Earrings, £350
It feels so indulgent to invest in jewellery for oneself that's a step-up from the normal high street offering. But, then we find ourselves navigating tricky outfits and occasions courtesy of its seriously luxe appeal and we wonder why our jewellery box isn't bulging more.
Wednesday - Adidas By Stella McCartney, Run Ultra Tech Jacket, £199.95
Thankfully technical clothes are rather on-trend (yes, fleeces and hiking boots really are fashionable right now) because we're convinced we need this immediately as t's now too cold to run outside in just a long-sleeve top. Catch us doing sprints in this rather dashing windbreaker in a park near you soon.
Tuesday - Zara, Cable-Knit Sweater , £39.99
A creamy cable knit sweater is exactly what our wardrobe is missing this season. With sequin and boldly printed dresses (thinking you Rixo) lining our wardrobe we've been missing a palette cleansing item that will also protect us from the bitter winter chill.
Monday - N Duo, High-Waisted Split Hem Trousers, £390, Farfetch
We're beginning the week right with a purchase that's both practical and appealing. These high-waist split-hem trousers from N Duo are work-appropriate without forsaking an ounce of personality or fit.
