Today Angelina Jolie became a Dame of Hollywood. The actress was presented with an honorary damehood by the Queen at a private ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Brad Pitt and her six children were also at the reception, although they weren't in any of the official photographs.
It was announced in June that Angelina was to be given the honorary award for her work against sexual violence. The announcement was made in the same week of the global summit on sexual crimes in war zones in London which Angelina chaired with William Hague, the Foreign Secretary.

A spokesman from the Palace said: 'The audience itself between Miss Jolie and the Queen was private. Her Majesty presented her with the insignia in its box. Mr Pitt and the rest of the family were introduced to the Queen afterwards, however.'
Angelina looked elegant in a Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2014 couture dove grey skirt suit with grey peep-toe courts and her hair pulled back into a classic chignon.
Hollywood icon and humanitarian, Angelina Jolie received an honorary Damehood from Her Majesty the Queen, wearing a suit by British couture house Ralph & Russo. Accepting this prestigious honour in a dove grey, wool crepe peplum jacket and pencil skirt with cinching belt and silk chiffon bow neck tie, inspired by a tailored piece from the Ralph & Russo Spring/Summer 2014 couture collection.
Angelina said of the award: “To receive an honour related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to. Working on PVSI and with survivors of rape is an honour in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime, and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.”
