The fashion news cycle hasn't stopped, churning out resignations and appointments in such quick succession that stylish group chats have been popping off every other day. The latest update? & Other Stories has appointed its first-ever chief creative officer, Jonathan Saunders.

The Glasgow-born designer, who will commence his role in the first half of 2025, has built a name for himself on a distinctly bold approach to print and colour, hence his chief creative officer role at Diane Von Furstenberg. In his 20-plus years as part of the fashion industry, he's also served as creative director of Pollini, as well as consulting for an illustrious roster of design houses including Calvin Klein, Tiffany & Co., Chloé, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Pucci, and Marc Jacobs. Saunders Studio, his own label, has become known for its celebration of 'craftsmanship, innovation and imagination' - and it's this spirit that his new bosses will, presumably, be hoping to tap at & Other Stories.

Saunders's appointment is another sign that our high street is evolving to keep up with consumer tastes, with each name trying to stand out in the market. As well as designer collaborations that have lent fashion kudos to high street retailers (think Roksanda, who has just announced an upcoming partnership with & Other Stories), it's just the latest example of designers taking up leadership positions at brands like Uniqlo (see, Clare Waight Keller).

& Other Stories, which is part of the H&M Group, has always differentiated itself as being the place on the high street for affordable clothes that are feminine yet directional (sculptural earrings; statement dresses; cult outerwear). Saunders will lead the brand's 'overall creative direction', according to the press release. 'Jonathan brings a refined blend of creativity and passion to & Other Stories and will play a key role in taking the brand into the next phase. His engagement and creative leadership, combined with a deep understanding of contemporary fashion, will be instrumental as we move forward,' says Lina Söderqvist**,** managing director at & Other Stories.

Saunders also talked about a 'new chapter' for & Other Stories: 'I think that thoughtful, expressive design that is also accessible, is powerful in this fast-evolving industry.'
