Oscar de la Renta said about designing Amal's dress: “It’s the most important dress in the life of a woman. Any girl from any walk of life dreams of that special dress, and I try to make that dream a reality for her. Amal and I looked at a lot of evening dresses and wedding dresses together, and we discussed what she liked. That gave me the idea of what she wanted.”

George meanwhile wore (as expected) a Giorgio Armani cashmere and wool black tuxedo from the Made to Measure collection, with a white shirt, black bow tie and an18K white gold OMEGA De Ville Trésor watch. He added a personal touch - cufflinks from Amal which were inscribed with 'George' in Arabic.

As for the ceremony at the Aman Canal Grande Venice, Alamuddin's mother Baria said to People: "George and Amal radiated love all night. The wedding was so unbelievably special, it was legendary. These three days – the friends, the families, the atmosphere, everything – will stay with me all the rest of my life."
