After breaking records at the booking office, 'Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty' is finally opening tomorrow at the V&A Museum, London.
No ordinary exhibition, tickets to see Savage Beauty were so in demand that the V&A released an extra 50,000 on top of the 30,000 tickets they sold initially. The exhibition has broken the museum's records for advance booking, with visitors coming to see it from 57 countries from Panama to Indonesia.
And rightly so. The exhibition will boast 200 Alexander McQueen ensembles and accessories for visitors to see up-close. Each item will be a testament to why McQueen is such an iconic designer, and one of the most innovative designers of his generation. Plus, the exhibit has been edited and expanded for the V&A, with 30 additional garments added from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
'Savage Beauty is a celebration of the most imaginative and talented designer of our time,' says Sarah Burton, Creative Director of Alexander McQueen. 'Lee was a genius and a true visionary who pushed boundaries, challenged and inspired. He believed in creativity and innovation and his talent was limitless.'
If you can't wait for tomorrow, there's no need to worry. The V&A have given us a look behind the scenes at the exhibition being put together.
You can still book tickets for the exhibition, which runs until 2nd August 2015, here.
