An intimate audience with Alexa Chung? It’s not often that such an opportunity presents itself, but thanks to her new collaboration with Los Angeles denim goliath, AG Jeans, that was exactly what a handful of journalists were offered. In what was a loose recreation of her apartment (for your info, we’re talking well-chosen antiques, Parisienne vibes, boudoir but minimal, twinkly bistro music in the background) Miss Chung floated around barefoot in a Japanese kimono. Like one does on a weekday evening.
We wondered on the ultra-relaxed garb until she started showcasing her collection by trying on every single bit – right in front of our eyes. Embarrassed? Nosiree. Alexa powered through the process of getting near naked in front of a bunch of fashion eds, speaking candidly and enthusiastically about her denim hook-up; and from our inside sources (as we are strictly forbidden to show you all of the collection apart from one outfit below) we know just how incredibly involved she’s been in the process from the very start, making it genuinely representative of the her wardrobe and current look.

We can’t tell you too much – you’ll have to wait until closer to the early Spring 2015 launch date to see and hear more – but here’s what we did learn and can share…
1. Many of the pieces are named after her pals…
Although Alexa admitted that she has perhaps not chosen the right piece for the right person! Look out for items called Pixie, Tennessee and Julie, with more bezzies to be namechecked soon.
2. It’s mostly boys who have inspired the line…
Aside from a supercool girl who works in the AG office and factory space in L.A. and inspired a cute little dress it’s the lads who have littered Alexa’s moodboard: namely Johnny Borrell’s white denim phase and a shot of George Harrison striding in kick-flares on a zebra crossing.
3. She has trouble finding the perfect pair of jeans…
And so this was part of the reason she jumped at the chance to design her own. Alexa vehemently loathes excessively elasticated denim but realises we ladies need a bit of the stretchy stuff for the very best fit. In Chung’s denim land, high-rise is key, as is a fairly cropped ankle and very unfussy washes.
**4. The collaboration almost didn’t happen… **
Chungster** admitted that she felt a bit like she’s run into collaboration overload and was unsure whether to proceed. But upon discovering the family structure behind AG Jeans – and how she was allowed to roam free with her ideas whilst receiving an almost internship-like degree of experience in this design arena, it became a no brainer. **
**5. The lookbook was shot in L.A…. **
And you can probably guess who features in it.
**6. She’s ‘run out’ of boyfriends, so had to design her own boyfriend tee… **
And very nice it is. The ultimate mix of cling and slouch to be worn with jeans, under pinafore dresses or dungarees (a style of which you’ll find in the range that seriously updates the overalls mega-trend).
7. And can’t help but choose the most ‘unsexy’ items…
Or at least in Alexa’s opinion they’re the least sexy. We’re talking here about high-neck smock dresses and the kind of onesies that only other girls tend to appreciate.
**8. That denim shorts may be too young for her to wear. Pish... **
Surely not! Alexa confessed that as she approaches 31, she’s unsure as to whether denim cut-offs are still appropriate. We say it’s a-ok when you have pins like hers. And they are her go-to festi-look with a Barbour jacket and Hunter wellies, after all.
9. This isn’t a one-off collection…
But apart from that, our lips are sealed.
