As I've never being much of a trainer person, it's rare that a pair piques my interest so, when it finally does happen, I'm fully invested. Case in point, the Adidas Taekwondos that are cropping up left right and centre on fashion girlies across my explore page.
After making a triumphant appearance on the sneaker hotlist for 2025, the Adidas Taekwondo first launched back in 1988 during the Seoul Olympics, designed for the feet of athletes and martial artists, as the name suggests. Cut to today and these trainers have switched podiums for the pavement, already selling out on Net a Porter.
Airing on the side of the embarrassing PE shoes that (cruel) school peers would jeer at seems to be the style du jour - take the Puma Speedcats which, throughout their tenure, have blossomed from ugly ducklings to primo fashion fodder in recent years (helped along by the likes of Rihanna and Emily Ratajkowski wearing them) - these minimal sneaker styles are almost a sporty take on a ballet flat thanks to a round leather toe and almost nonexistent sole. Puma is even launching a ballet-trainer-hybrid for the season ahead.
So, take note from the fashion pack and pair yours with baggy jeans and a red cardigan for a cool girl outfit or with pleated skirts and a leather bomber jacket for a fashion forward winter outfit that'll see you through until spring.
