Let's hope that Eddie Redmayne has a sizeable mantelpiece. He's already picked up a Golden Globe and a SAG for his performance in The Theory of Everything, and now he can add a Leading Actor BAFTA to his growing collection.
During his acceptance speech Eddie thanked his family, his co-star Felicity Jones and Stephen Hawking, who was there to watch him pick up his award. He also regaled the audience with a colourful anecdote about last time he attended the BAFTAs and, 'had severe food poisoning and redecorated corridor of royal opera house.' What an image!
Elsewhere, Boyhood scooped the big prize with the Best Film award, and also won nods for director Richard Linklater and supporting actress Patricia Arquette. The Grand Budapest Hotel had a staggering 11 nominations and walked away with five, including Best Original screenplay for Wes Anderson. The Theory Of Everything and Whiplash won three awards each, with Eddie's win for best Lead Actor making the chances of him picking up an Oscar later this month look increasingly likely.
Go Eddie!
