Zara’s Homage To Katie Holmes’s Cashmere CardiBra Has Already Sold Out – But It’s Coming Back

2019 has been full of surprises. You'll be relieved to know I'm not going to mention the B word – unless, that is, the B word to which you think I'm referring is bra. As in, cashmere. As in, the Most Perfect Outfit invented by Katie Holmes (and NY label Khaite) in late August of this year, which may possibly be Holmes's greatest legacy, eclipsing even the profound work of Dawson's Creek. That's right, in a move nobody could possibly have predicted, a brown cashmere bra and matching cardigan was one of the biggest talking points of the year, sartorially speaking. And now Zara has designed its own version, thus adding fuel to this fire.

At the end of last week, Zara dropped a cropped wool cardigan and matching crop top, much to the surprise and delight of the world's shoppers boasting the beadiest of eyes, who were quick to notice that this two piece looked a lot like Katie Holmes's own cashmere Khaite styles. So delighted were they, in fact, that the cardigan has already sold out. The crop top is only available in two sizes, as the biggest size has also gone.

Fear not, however, if you think your dreams have been dashed. Zara is working on re-stocking both items at this very moment and you can sign up to alerts so that you know exactly when your Katie Holmes-inspired dreams can become a reality.

While the sound of a wool crop top might sound terrifying, it would look excellent under its soulmate (the cardi) but also layered over white shirts. As for the cardigan, it's a far more practical purchase so will be of great use during these colder months. All I really would suggest is that you only buy both of these items if you know you're going to want to wear them this time next year, too, in the hope of encouraging a more sustainable approach to shopping.
