After Hedi Slimane’s shock departure at Saint Laurent last year, industry talk inevitably turned to who could possible follow suit? Of course, during his four-year tenure, Slimane fast established himself as fashion’s new bad boy on the block – with his always uber-modern and (more often) controversial collections grabbing headlines each season.
But, it seems his predecessor Italian-Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello is getting in on the action too.
The one major talking point on the runway this AW17? Those YSL ‘80s infused glitter boots, that would not look out of place adorned on Grace Jones in Studio 54.
And according to WWD the fancy footwear - handmade and covered in 3,000 rhinestones per shoe - has ‘already amassed wait-lists at American department stores Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. Rihanna’s currently ‘obsessed’ with her pair, which she recently posted on her Instagram.
Although you may need to start saving now if you want to snap up a pair yourself – they will retail at $10,000 (£6,000).
‘In speaking with buyers about the state of accessories post-season, many identified the slouch boot as a key trend for fall,’ WWD report. ‘Saint Laurent’s runway boots were repeatedly noted as one of the season’s key items — along with the Pixie bag from Clare Waight Keller’s final collection for Chloé.’
