Last year, we had Tiffany selling a ball of silver yarn for $9000, Prada retailing a paperclip for $185 and Balenciaga’s £850 carrier bag which looked suspiciously like the iconic blue IKEA shopper, but now, we have £385 Marigolds by Calvin Klein.

The elbow-length, 100 per cent synthetic rubber gloves were first debuted on the spring/summer 2018 runway, as part of the second collection from new creative director Raf Simmons, and look suspiciously like the traditional garment used to do the washing up. Sadly however, they don’t come in the famous bright yellow hue, but instead are made in a nice millennial pink, natch.

Despite their housework-associations, the gloves did look chic on the catwalk, teamed with a rubber pencil skirt and top, both emblazoned with ‘Calvin Klein’. They would be very practical too - especially during the current April showers.
