Kate, William and George touched down in Sydney this morning, with Kate brightening up the waterfront in a canary-yellow £950 Roksanda Illincic dress. 'William told me I look like a banana' Kate was overheard telling a woman in the crowd gathered outside the Sydney Opera House, a detail that thrilled us on so many levels.
Firstly, we love that (unlike Kanye), William does not pretend to take any serious interest (read: weirdo control) in his partner's wardrobe; in fact, he clearly doesn't 'do' fashion at all. (Sorry, William. You know it's not your greatest strength, my sweet.) And his confusion is kinda endearing. This is not the first time that he has responded to one of Kate's 'bright' wardrobe choices with a baffled look and furrowed brow. And secondly, props to Kate for clearly having the GSOH to share that nugget of real-yet-regal info.

And THIRDLY, Wills has actually deftly referenced a sleeper fashion trend for SS14: fruity. From pineapples to bananas to cherries to avocados, the catwalk has been channelling Carmen Miranda and her epic fruit and veg headpieces. Just look at the juicy offerings from Haitian/Italian designer, Stella Jean, and sporty British label Mother of Pearl (stocked at Liberty.) And check out the bananas on Emma Roberts at Coachella and the watermelons on Kylie Jenner. Luscious.

This might just have made you crave a massive bowl of fruit salad and ice-cream, but if you feel like putting fruit on, rather than in, your body, we have a fruitbowl of fashion delights for you. This pineapple dress will take you from beach to high street and day to night, without having to change a thing, and the Alice + Olivia court shoes are sweet enough to make a strawberry mojito. (We'd offset the sweetness with a red dress.) If funds are a little low then Etsy is your best bet. We're slightly obsessed with dangly grapefruit earrings, cherry hair slides and t-shirts that look like a slice of watermelon, and Etsy has them all. Thirst officially quenched.
