Non-essential shops in England and Wales are now open and we couldn't be more excited.
Whether you're eager to support your favourite independent store or you're committed to saving our high street, we've compiled an FAQ for post-lockdown shopping, so you know what to expect.
Do I have to queue outside?
Yes. Most stores will require you to queue outside standing 2m apart before entering. This is to keep control over the amount of customers in the store at one time, so it doesn't become overcrowded and breach government guidelines.
Will I have to wear a mask?
It is required that you do wear a face mask, unless you're under 11 or have a physical or mental illness or disability.
Can I try clothes on?
Yes! Finally you can try on in store. There's no need to take home, try on and return anymore.
How will I know it's safe to try clothes on?
Clothes that have been tried on will either be held for a 24-48hr period before going out on the shop floor again, or they will undergo a thorough steaming process before coming in contact with another customer.
Will there be social distancing in store?
Yes. Social distancing is required in store. 2m is preferable but 1m with risk mitigation, where 2m is not viable, is acceptable.
Will there be a one-way system in store?
All stores will be different, but most will have markings on the floor to direct customers, especially around the changing rooms and till area.
Will there be screens up at the till?
Most stores will have screens up around the till area, as to protect the staff and customers when coming into close contact.
Can I pay in cash?
It is advised to use contactless payment and card where possible, but some stores are now accepting cash too. Remember to use hand sanitiser after dealing with money.
