Kate Middleton has long championed British-based fashion labels, with some of her favourites including Alexander McQueen, Emilia Wickstead and Roksanda. Often, pieces are made for her, putting them firmly out of reach for the general public. There are times, however, when she proves the power of The Kate Effect and causes an item to sell out, be it high street or otherwise. This week, she put a relatively under-the-radar label firmly on the map.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are due to embark on a tour of Pakistan in just over a week. Ahead of this, they went to meet the Aga Khan in London. For the meeting, Kate chose a pretty green, flowing silk dress with a subtly contrasting belt.
The dress is from ARoss Girl x Soler, a collaboration between two labels that are well known within the fashion industry. ARoss Girlwas founded by Amanda Ross, a former editor at Harper's Bazaar and red carpet stylist. Soler is a small, London-based atelier that Ross stumbled upon and fell in love with, which then led to a collaboration between the two, hosted by Net-a-Porter.
Kate's dress is the Amanda Maxi Dress in silk, costing £825. It is, as you may have expected, completely sold out. But it's definitely worth checking out the rest of the collection on Net-a-Porter, which is full of pretty midi dresses, silk blouses and velvet skirts. There are even corduroy midis for £285, meaning you can get a slightly more affordable slice of the collab.
The Duchess has been taking more risks, sartorially speaking, of late. While they're still in-keeping with her typically polished, classic approach to dressing, they've been more fashion-forward. We've seen everything fromGucci gowns to Mulberry coats, so it will be interesting to see what she'll be wearing during the tour of Pakistan in the coming weeks.
