How To Wear The 90s Trend

If it was acceptable in the 90s, then it’s hot right now.

Hey – remember when we told you the 90s were back in fashion? It’s the trend that won’t go away and for good reason. From Empire Records to early-era Friends, the Internet is teeming with nostalgic style inspo.

Taking inspiration from our ultimate 90s girl crushes, Tu’s Spring/Summer collection is helping us master the trend in 2017.

Rachel from Friends

Debrief-Tu_LOOK1_alt

So, you've heard that sad theory behind Ben's absence at Ross' wedding and the link between Home Alone and Monica and Chandler, but what we really should be focusing on is the iconic looks Rachel brought to table in the first two seasons of Friends.

Whether for work or weekend, don a dungaree dress and pair with plimsolls for the ultimate chilled-out 90s look.

Jacket, £22.00

Dungaree Dress, £22.00

Plimsolls, £14.00

Vest, £3.00

Clueless' Dionne

Dionne’s two-piece plaid suits were as iconic as her killer one liners. I mean, her digital wardrobe was totally ahead of its time and, it’s safe to say, we were all a little bit (read: a lot) jealous at the time (read: right now).

Cher and Dionne were the high school queens we aspired to be, but while Cher was traditional, Dionne was a bit more daring with her style. Bright colours, like this mustard yellow jumper, under a bright plaid print, will get you noticed. Pull on some knee high socks and courts and you’ll be swooning over that hot history teacher all over again.

Top, £12.00

Pinafore, £18.00

Socks, £5.00

Drew Barrymore

Drew was the ultimate wild child – but despite the craziness, Drew’s style was always on point. This look allows you to indulge in the holy grail of 90s style with some double denim.

Tuck in your top (or wear a bodysuit for ease) and chuck on an oversized jacket. Simple.

Shirt, £16.00

Jeans, £10.00

Bodysuit, £8.00

Denim Jacket, £12.50

Liv Tyler in Empire Records

It may not be Rex Manning Day just yet (8th April, FYI), but this look can be worn all spring long. Liv’s character, Corey, rocks a plaid skirt and chunky knit combo, adding boots – which actually belonged to Liv – for a bit of attitude. It’s a solid look recreated throughout the decades, like Princess Mia in the early noughties, and you can easily bring the look up to date thanks to Tu.

Skirt, £16.00

Jumper, £16.00

Boots, £40.00

Cross Body Bag, £12.00
