He was her first love, the man who many claim she never quite got over and who Kate Moss herself has admitted caused her ‘years and years of crying’ when their four-year relationship ended. We are, of course, talking about Johnny Depp – he of ‘Kate and Johnny’, whose relationship came to define an era of ’90s cool and helped form the woman we now know as a fashion icon.

So last week, 15 years and five months after Kate and Johnny were last pictured together, there was enormous excitement at the news that the pair had recently reunited – this time on-screen in cameos for the video of Paul McCartney’s new single Queenie Eye. And today, a making-of video AND the promo itself have both landed, which see the two stars on set at the recording at Abbey Road. Yeep! Check it out pronto:

Not only do Kate and Johnny make an appearance, but a whole host of stars took part too. In the video the two former flames form part of a party of A-listers who all pop up in Abbey Road Studios as Sir Paul records his latest single. Kicking off with Johnny, who is seen leaning against the singer's piano and listening to his iPod, the screen begins to fill up with famous faces, including models Laura Bailey and Lily Cole, actresses Alice Eve and Meryl Streep, actors Jude Law and Sean Penn, as well as James Cordon, Gary Barlow - and yes, that's Mr Tom Ford too! What a coup.

‘They are friends of mine and Stella’s,’ Paul said of Kate and Johnny last week. ‘I am very lucky they agreed to do it.’ Given the hysteria surrounding their relationship – and the fact that secretly, rather like Kate, we never quite got over the break-up of one of the most beautiful couples in recent history – the news sparked an avalanche of headlines around the globe.

Initial reports implied the pair had come face to face, but these details are shrouded in mystery, as Kate was not pictured at the famous studio, whereas Johnny was photographed there on 1 October. A fan tweeted that Kate was however spotted at Abbey Road the day after Johnny. ‘Saw Kate Moss arriving at Abbey Road today. Johnny Depp seen there yesterday – coincidence?’ read the tweet. It seems not. Both Kate and Johnny were also snapped leaving the model’s favourite restaurant, China Tang at the Dorchester, days apart while the actor was in London.

Last October, Kate, 39, opened up for the very first time about the agony of her split from Johnny in a rare interview with Vanity Fair. ‘There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me,’ she said. ‘Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said. Like if I said, “What do I do?” he’d tell me. And that’s what I missed when I left. I really lost that gauge of somebody I could trust. Nightmare. Years and years of crying. Oh, the tears!’

The pair, who met in 1994 in New York’s Café Tabac, were the ultimate It couple until their break-up in 1998. Who can forget the first time they ever heard Kate Moss speak as a fresh-faced, giggling 21-year-old, appearing on The Big Breakfast alongside Johnny to talk about War Child in 1995? Then there were the reports that, to celebrate his 32nd birthday, they filled their bath tub at London’s Portobello Hotel with £750 worth of champagne. Rumour has it, the bubbly was accidentally let down the plughole by a maid!

Just months after their split, Johnny said in an interview, ‘Kate is somebody I care about deeply… she’s a great, lovely, sweet, pure girl – really a great kid, and I care about her. I love her on a very deep, profound level. Distance is very difficult when you’re trying to maintain a relationship, when you’re thousands of miles apart for a lot of time. We still see each other, hang out and talk on the phone.’
