So, the minus side of US e-store Era Luxe is that this is not a bargain basement. These are investments, much like Vestiaire Collective, which will require penny saving. But the plus side? A brilliant edit and a big saving on designer pieces.

'A highly edited collection of designer vintage pieces ranging from the 1970's on,' is how Era Luxe describes its curation - and thankfully we are saved from 67 pages of oddly fitting brown dresses (why do so many vintage purveyors still think that modern girls are looking for those kind of frocks?)

The pre-owned site - it also has a really good blog attached which is updated daily by owner Julie - hosts a small but relevant selection of pieces, which spares you from crazy out-dated silhouettes and dodgy colours. If you're saving for prom, or a wedding, or a gift from you to you, then this is the place you should head to.

Whereas Balmain - Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Rihanna's favourite label - typically costs around £2,000 for a jacket, Era Luxe is selling sharp-shouldered Balmain blazers for under $400 (that's £241.22.) And how about a Missoni crochet knit sweater? Currently retailing on Net-a-Porter for £800; a mere snip at that for £195.99 on Era Luxe. In a climate when you might never be able to conceivably own a piece of Chanel, or Yves Saint Laurent (we're talking several K for each piece), this might just be the e-store you've long been looking for. If you're into your archived pieces, please join us in your excitement: they've even got a genuine YSL smoking jacket on sale right now!

As you can tell - designer bargain hunters and eBay afficianados as we are - we're into this site. If you're into building a more sustainable wardrobe, with designer pieces that aren't going to go 'off' then this site is truly the best way to start.

Here are our top picks - but we can't pretend that we might've snapped up one or two before you get there.
