Awards Season has officially arrived, so we're going to see a lot of the nominees over the next few months. The good news is this means we're about to be inundated with pictures of Eddie Redmayne in a tux.
W Magazine have released their annual movie issue, in which Tim Walker has photographed 39 stand-out nominees from Julianne Moore to Timothy Spall. There are seven covers with Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Shailene Woodley and The Imitation Game duo Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley.
Inside the mag the actors are transformed into eccentric characters - Bradley Cooper is given hair gel and white platforms, Dakota Fanning spidery eyelashes and Reese Witherspoon red and black striped OTK socks.
W Magazine explain the inspiration behind the shoot: "The photographer Tim Walker was influenced by the colorful, sun-drenched Los Angeles paintings and photographs of David Hockney, as well as the ’70s free-love aesthetic that informs the artist’s work. From there, the photographic scenarios took cues from Federico Fellini and, naturally, Walker’s own unique perspective."
So how did Eddie Redmayne feel about his clown shoes? Was Bradley a fan of his suspenders? W writes: "Remarkably, all the actors and actresses were excited to play, to be transformed, to embrace personae that were extreme, odd, and truly fascinating." Oh to be a fly on the wall in that photo studio...
