First Look At Victoria Victoria Beckham’s Resort 2016 Collection (With Denim!)

Three cheers for Victoria Beckham! Following the news earlier this year that the designer’s additional line to RTW would be merged together, here is the first look at the resulting combination of Victoria Victoria Beckham and Denim.

In the basement of her impressive Dover Street store, last week Victoria talked a select group of editors through her Resort 2016 line. Inspired by the circus, this newly rebooted VVB collection echoes back to the cuter and more adventurous early days where cloud motifs and extra-adorable pastels were king: for Resort flounces and frills skate around spaghetti strapped dresses you’d wear just as easily on holiday as you would a big night out, bright colour-shock graphics swirl around with constrat scalloped edges that whirr like fairground wheels, there are psychedelic florals that would blind the paps into submission… but if that all sounds too girlish, have faith. In Victoria’s capable – and deftly chic – hands these joyful starting points culminate in a broad and full offering that could keep the kook and the classist equally happy.

Where Mrs Beckham's mainline collection caters to the ultra-sleek working women, don't be fooled as to thinking that less thought and time and consideration goes into creating the kind of clothes an equally busy woman needs at a different price point. The VVB fabrics are just as high tech and well-sourced. The details - like those great vinyl flowers - are detachable for easy washing. The basics are just as plentiful and exciting as the stand-out statement items. The VVB girl may be younger or sweeter, but she's as demanding and exacting as any other customer... and of course, if Victoria wears it - which she does both outside in the wide world but also by trying on everything in the studio - then you know it comes with a very trusted seal of approval.

With Victoria's design crew and much of the experimental production happening over in her Battersea HQ, Team Beckham have the freedom to dream up their wildest fashion ideas as easily as they can perfect a white shirt with a point-of-difference or add even further luxe-detailing to Victoria’s well-loved denim. Look out now for enamel buttons and Japanese denim – these two elements have elevated Victoria’s jeans even further.
