Yesterday Victoria Beckham’s Target collection finally went on sale, and to say their was a stampede would be an understatement. The 200 plus pieces, most coming in at under £35, were all snapped up sharpish.

With some customers getting angry after experiencing difficulties via the online shop, Beckham was forced to take to Twitter to apologise. She wrote: ‘I am overwhelmed by your response to my VBxTarget collaboration launch! Thank you for your patience and sorry for any frustration! x VB.’

Just like the many other designer high street collaborations that have come before, pieces from the VBxTarget collection soon appeared on resale sites including eBay and Depop. Unfortunately for anyone thinking of bagging a bit of VB, the prices have now doubled, and in some cases, quadrupled.

For example, the popular orange, one-shoulder dress, originally available for £40 is now being flogged on Depop for a whopping £150.

Similarly, the embellished bomber jacket, originally £70 is being sold for £200, while the pink ruffle hem dress is now priced at £85 although is was originally £35.

The limited edition collection is not only her debut high-street line but her first foray into childrenswear, as the line will feature over 200 ready-to-wear pieces for both women and kids.

Inspired by her spin-off Victoria, Victoria Beckham collection, which the designer launched five years ago whilst pregnant with Harper, the collection will comprise of easy-to-wear tops and trousers for women with co-ordinating styles for children.

And childrenswear is a field Victoria has always wished to pursue, as she said in a statement, “Being a mother has helped me understand what’s important when it comes to the category. I have had years of learning that function is often just as important as form, and that children need to be able to feel comfortable and free in what they wear.”

And the collection will enable the British designer renowned for eye-wateringly high prices to reach out to the mass market, as prices will range from $6 to $70.

The 42-year-old exclusively told The Business of Fashion, "The timing just felt right. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I wanted to put a collection out there for people who either can’t afford designer prices or don’t want to pay designer prices.”

Victoria will also be stocking select items on her website to enable international customers to shop the collection. Great news for us Brits.

And the former Spice Girl is clearly excited to launch her new line as she stated that, “These are clothes that I want to wear."

So it’s safe to say we'll probably want to wear them too…
