Victoria Beckham's catalogue for her Victoria, Victoria Beckham collection is untypically provocative for VB. In one shot the model lays flat on her back playing dead - eyes closed; floppy legs.
The images, shot by Colin Dodgson, reference the 90s 'heroin chic' thing with impeccably dressed models lying with their heads thrown back and floppy limbs.
But models playing dead in an ad campaign is hardly new. In the Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2014 campaign Miley Cyrus posed next to Natalie Westling who played the part of the beautiful corpse.
But some have taken the 'pretty dead girl' thing to more eyebrow-raising extremes. We're talking models in carboots; more fake blood than mascara. America's Next Top Model viewers may recall an episode in 2007 entitled 'beautiful corpses,' where models had to pose lifeless (and bruised) at the scene of their crime, from the bottom of stairwells to bloodied beds. Feedback was equally controversial, as one judge even said: "death becomes you, young lady."
