If you couldn't announce your pregnancy with a performance at the Super Bowl (à la Rihanna), your second choice would naturally be the Oscars. At last night's ceremony, Vanessa Hudgens staged her very own reveal, arriving with a very distinctive plus one. Summing up the feeling on Instagram, the actor posted: 'Oscars 2024! One for the books.'
For the ceremony itself, Hudgens wore Vera Wang. The high-necked gown was the definition of directional yet demure - essentially, the dress version of the stretchy polo neck that's a layering staple in so many people's wardrobes - and, obviously, showcased her bump to perfection.
For the after party to end all after parties hosted by Vanity Fair, Hudgens switched things up a little. The post-ceremony circuit is notoriously less conservative and the actor leaned in, arriving in a diaphanous gown by Alberta Ferretti. Sheer over the bump, arms and legs, it was a masterclass in the kind of reveal-and-conceal maternity dressing that was first posited by Rihanna, who had not one, not two but three impeccable outfit changes at last year's Oscars, and has since been adopted by Sienna Miller. Congratulations, Vanessa!
