Great news for anyone who's been desperately seeking tickets to see the V&A's Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition, especially if you're a night owl: the musuem will stay open around the clock for the last two weeks of the show.
The news comes as the museum announced it has received an “unprecedented demand” for tickets. And that's quite the understatement given that 345,000 people have visited the exhibition since it opened on March 14. It's the V&A’s most visited paid exhibition in the past decade and fashion fans have ventured from as far a field as El Salvador and Aghanistan just to catch a glimpse of the legendary designer's back catalogue.
12,000 more tickets will be released for showings spanning Friday, 24th July to Sunday, 26th July at 10 pm., and from Friday, 31st July to Sunday, 2nd August at 11 pm, when the exhibition will close its doors for the last time.
On weekends, the V&A will be opening up a bar with music playing until 10pm and refreshements until 6am. With the chance to see the Kate Moss hologram, Lee's famous paint splatter dress, and 18-yearsof breathtaking work (spanning 1992 to 2010), this will definitely beat any big night out you may already have in your diary.
Plans for the all-nighters are a more than fitting final hoorah for Lee McQueen's beloved exhibition, given that he once said that he dreamed of spending a whole night trapped inside the V&A.
Move fast if you want to get hold of night time tickets to the show though - if there's anything we've learnt from its run so far, people can't get enough. Book here.
