Is This The World’s Most Extra Accessory?

TBH a plastic bag would do the job just as well but we're into it!

When you’ve spent the equivalent of several months’ salary on a handbag, it would be reckless to take it out in bad weather. But, if the only way you’ve justified the purchase is by calculating its cost-per-wear it’s not like you can hide your prized purse in a cupboard for months on end. C’mon, we live in England, there’s as much chance that the climate could turn against us in August as there is during the dark days of December, so we’re constantly running the risk of destroying our cherished bags. This brings us neatly to the subject of today’s ridiculous (yet, actually really practical) item that will ensure your precious accessory stays in mint condition from Milan-based label Valextra or ValEXTRA as we're referring to them today.

Rain, wind, hail and even a little damp in the air can play havoc with the maintenance of a fine leather, like that used on a Valextra handbag. With prices soaring from the hundreds into the thousands for a bag by this Milanese label they’ve only gone and created a plastic pouch to ensure your spenny purchase does not succumb to the elements.

Watch Now: What Is A Moon Cup?

For the grand price of £115 you get a plastic pouch. Crafted to snuggly fit one of the label’s Iside bags, it’s being dubbed the ‘handbag raincoat’ but we're calling it a poncho for your purse. Acting like a cagoule or a windbreaker, it’s an extra barrier between the world and your possession. And, that’s exactly what it is: extra. It’s 2017, the world is a melting pot of nefarious political characters getting their way, so why not say to the world ‘I’m high-maintenance and I don’t care who knows it’ with a £115 PVC topcoat for your tote.
