I’m overjoyed that it’s time to return to Topshop for Changing Room Selfies. (Last time I was there, I wastrying on tartan.) My favourite high-street mecca in the whole wide world (if not the www), it’s always the easiest thing assembling looks here.

In fact, I could do it ten times over. It’s also made even easier by the fact that you can now take 12 pieces into the changing rooms of their whopping/fantastic flagship store.

There was still plenty of Kate Moss x Topshop pieces around when I went – an unusual situation for a hugely anticipated collaboration, but none the less very welcome – but I decided to go with summer prints for this week’s theme, as Topshop does them so goddamn well.

There were none of those overwrought neon Aztec or dicey floral patterns going on. But here’s what was in abundance:

Breton festival

Breton tops are basically a neutral. Tonal block yours with a red embellished skirt. As ‘festival’ patterns go, this skirt knocks it out the park. Wear with black boots to avoid looking too cutesy.

Pyjama doublet

The pyjama co-ord is still going strong – and nothing beats this silky shirt and pantaloons combo (these are definitely pantaloons). I love clownish ankle-swinging silhouettes at the moment. It’s lucky that Man Repeller is so en vogue, huh?

Folk Panel Shirt, £45 and Tile Print Culottes, £42

Sex up a midi skirt

A dowdy midi skirt is always a concern. This Topshop one has cropped up in dozens of fashion editorials for good reason. I like it with a loose camisole to keep it relaxed rather than too ‘done’.

Fray your mom jeans

Mom jeans are the denim hero of the summer (essentially, just size down in your boyfriend jeans and wear them tight on the bum) and I really like them with a pyjama shirt, to stop them looking too dated. This Kate Moss x Topshop floral shirt was my favourite piece from the whole collection – and joyfully, still in store.

Say hello to the cagoule

Festivals are going to be fun this summer – because you’ll actually be able to find a good cagoule for once. The ever-practical raincoat is having a serious renaissance and this printed one is nice with a clashing jumpsuit. To stop it looking too geography nerd.

Don’t ban Aztec from your wardrobe…

Just approach it with caution – and preferably add some pom poms, for good measure. I like the idea of this one with a simple button-down silk skirt. Which happens to be my own shirt, worn as skirt. Ha! Fooled you. Right?
