Denim. It never goes out of fashion - and this summer there's far more of it around than the usual basics. And despite loving denim, I don't have too much variation in my wardrobe (I only own one denim shirt, sob), so I went on a mission to find some new easy-to-wear staples that I can wear all year round. I haven't been to New Look for ages, but I was super surprised by how much awesome stuff they had in this season. Here's what I tried on...
The Mini Tunic Dress
A dress that is easy to throw on, has pockets and shows cleavage? It's like all of my dress dreams have come true!
I'm a sucker for a mini dress (I went for Petite so it was even shorter) - teamed with a simple pair of black heeled sandals is always a favourite combo of mine. I ended up walking away with a tenner off on the dress too - result!

The Itsy Bitsy High Waisted Hot Pants
Who likes short shorts? I like short shorts! Now I'm definitely not confident enough to wear these on a regular day at the office, but little shorts are a must have in your summer wardrobe. Props to New Look for actually making clothes that are true to size too - there's nothing more annoying than bringing multiple sizes of the same item into the changing room just because a brand can't get their sizes right...

The Button Down Pencil Skirt
I tend to favour shorter lengths as I think they suit my proportions better, but I'm pretty much in love with this button down skirt. Tight on the butt, fitted around the thighs and with another stretch so you don't look like you're walking like a penguin. Can I just mention the tee too? Who knew fruit over my boobs could be so entertaining?

The Classic Dungarees
It seems Minions have become an unlikely style inspiration for me (I mean, they are everywhere), as I accidentally seemed to have recreated their look. I think I look like a 12 year old in this style of dungarees, but for the nostalgic element I'd definitely consider these for a casual trip to the park or to wear on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The Double Denim Combo
A classic combo if there ever was any. When done right white jeans can look awesome in the summer, and a simple denim jacket is perfect for the inbetweeny weather and evening chill.

The Cowgirl Combo
A denim shirt and cut-off black shorts, what more do you need to release your inner cowgirl? I'm loving the lace detailing on the shorts and as I only own one denim shirt and it's the most versatile thing I own, it's about time I start looking for another one or two. Buttoned to the top, sleeves rolled up, open with a crop top, tied around your waist - the possibilities are (almost) endless.
