I skipped out of this episode of Changing Room Selfies. Skipped, I tell you. I initially intended to look for festival-approved clothes but found myself inundated with too much brilliant general summer wear.

(Insider tip – and sorry if this is frustrating to those of you living outside London, but it is well worth a visit on your next trip to the city – the best store is their flagship (perhaps unsurprisingly) because they have so much good vintage, in their Urban Renewal section.)

But otherwise: here’s the best in store right now

The black slip dress

blackdress

Love a black slip dress in the summer, with a tan. UO is famous for their slip dresses (they’re the only high street store that I will buy them from.) This one’s a winner with the square neckline and a split skirt.

Pins & Needles Black Dress, £80 available in store

A sleeveless tartan shirt

Set yourself apart from all the other Woodstock wannabees with a sleeveless tartan shirt instead of a long-sleeved. A shirt sawn off at the shoulders is way more wearable than you think and is an ideal summer layer as it won’t make you too hot – on account of the armpit airing situation. Wear over a camisole dress and biker boots or some nude sandals.

Cooperative Ditsy ’90s Slip Dress in Navy, £38 and Vintage Renewal Sleeveless Overdyed Tartan Shirt, £30 from a selection

A thermal tee

I absolutely love thermal tees. Worn with jeans they remind me of Joey Potter big time. They’re quite ‘vintage cute’ especially with a rosebud print, but worn with vintage-inspired mom jeans, they’re more ‘afternoon at the Goodwill’ than preppy princess.

Pins & Needles Ditsy Print Top in White, £25

A stripey T-shirt dress

As soon as I put this T-shirt dress on, I instantly saw myself wearing it through every hangover/every flight in the near future. When a dress makes you time-travel like that, you have to buy it. (I did.) I like that it’s obviously super wearable – soft, boxy fit – but jazzy enough to not look remotely daggy, even if you’re definitely feeling the daggiest ever.

Vintage Renewal Russian Stripe Dress in Red and Blue, £32

A floral/checkered mash-up

All hail the print clash. These red and white checked tapered leg trousers really shouldn’t work with a purple floral shirt – but they do. At least, I think they do. If you don’t, go do your own CRS hurrumphs off

Cooperative Tapered Tartan Trousers in Red, £45 and Cooperative Revere Short Sleeve Shirt in Floral Print, £38

A cagoule

The transparent cagoule has become cool. Don’t ask us why (but do read our piece on keeping practicool.) I like this K-Swiss one. Wear when it’s raining, or just if you’re a bit cold – trying this on, I forgot how unbelivably hot a cagoule can make you. Anyone know why?

K-Way Leon Classic Cagoule (available in silver online), £50 and Cooperative Jade Playsuit in Daisy Print, £38
