Prints, prints, glorious prints. What did we do without them, eh? River Island was an obvious choice for this print-based #CRS. They love a good print - particularly in their brand new Designers Forum collaboration with Katie Eary (a designer conversely known for her menswear and work with Yeezus.) Some of these looks are a little summery for right now, I grant you, so maybe we should call this global print. Because you can wear it on your winter holiday. The sun's always shining somewhere! Right?
First up... Upper East Side Princess
[ASSETHERE=image]
I feel quite* Gossip Girl* in this. It's femme and chic like Blair, no? The cappuccino-coloured trousers are way more wearable than I ever thought a pair of Beige Polka Dot High Waisted Leggings, £22 could be. As we know by now, #CRS is serious danger and this one was no exception: I ended up buying this Cream Polkadot Blouse, £25 from River Island's concession line, Chelsea Girl. Having been the type of girl who swore I'd never wear a pussy bow blouse (or, for that matter, attempt double polkadot) it came as quite a surprise. Screw fashion snobbery, hey?
Next... The Ko Phi Phi twerker
If you've never been to a Thai island - and therefore haven't tried the lighter fuel that is a 'bucket' of booze - don't despair, because if you wear this outfit you're half way there. The Proenza Schouler-esque Katie Eary Lizard Print Eyelet Top, £45 is a corker - check out the lace-up sleeves! - and the zingy green sets off the punchiness of the Black Lily Print A-Line Mini Skirt, £25. Happy clash.
We're calling this Left Bank dawdler
I have so much love for Paris; and for the humble breton. Stripes upon stripes is a great new thing I've decided. The Navy Stripe Tailored Blazer, £55 kind of offsets the classic-ness of a single Striped Tee, £16 (available in store) perfectly.
And now: think James Blunt's Ibizan villa guest
It's very 'Lisa Snowden in Ibiza' - a kimono worn as a sexy wrap top. Sadly I don't look much like Elle, though. This silky kimono (£40) would look good over a bikini and, as I have excellently shown, functions very well as an evening top with jeans.
**Could this be a way to make Scottish golfer fashionable?
**
Tiger ain't got nothing on me. Actually, he's got a lot. Naughty boy. These Light Blue Tartan Slim Cigarette Pants, £35 are very golfy; but they work with black separates, they're a really nice flattering fit and you'll always feel chic when you tell someone you're wearing 'cigarette pants.'
And finally... have your own 'Alexa-at-Milan-Fashion-Week' moment
Alexa loves a Peter Pan Collar dress from Valentino. Now you can, too, in this Black Chelsea Girl Aztec Floral Print Dress, £32. It's girly, sure, but I feel so special in it. And sometimes that's a good feeling to have.
