It's so lush it makes us actually excited about autumn

Battling my way through the sales stuff – I'm over it now: I've got all the discounted orange-collared duds than I could possibly wish for – I immediately became radiant when ensconced in the area housing Zara's 'new season' collection. Their new stuff is SO LUSH.

With distinct Isabel Marant meets Sandro overtones, there were plenty of new-season looks to get your head around in this week's Changing Room Selfies.

The new suit

Suits have been creeping back for a while, but I've been mysteriously unable to find one that actually fits on the high street. This pinstriped one is extremely slim line, tailored and most preferable with nothing at all worn underneath. Take your cue from Cara.

The zhushy new swing dress

The jury is out on how you spell that word, but there's no doubt that this dress is exactly that. It's super soft and stretchy and is the ideal fit for all those red-carpet appearances. Because you are Jennifer Lawrence. OK, maybe not, but the shape of this dress is very 'her', so roll with it.

The cold shoulder trend continues

Off the shoulder has been the major rager this summer and apparently it's going nowhere for autumn. Make it seasonally appropriate (not that you can probably even think about that right now in the heatwave. Did you hear that we are having a HEATWAVE?) with a long-sleeved version and add some joggers to offset the boho vibe. I like the fact that these have zippers at the ankles, which you can undo to create a minor flare.

Sports luxe is also still going strong

These black trousers aren't necessarily doing anything new by featuring a white stripe, but they are a particularly nice fit – and very affordable, too. The brick-red sporty cami ensures this isn't just a monochrome look.

Pay full homage to Marant

This side-tie fabric jacket with slightly elevated shoulders is very Isabel Marant and looks so much more expensive than it actually is. The slightly cropped fit at the back and the fact that you can potentially wear it as a light jacket or a wrap shirt with nothing underneath, meant I snapped it up immediately. Meanwhile, I predict that this suede tasselled side mini is going to be one of their hero pieces this season (the new skort, if you will) – with it's lace-up detailing above the groin, it's very similar to an Isabel Marant leather skirt from a few seasons ago.
