We Try On All The New Knitwear in Urban Outfitters So You Don’t Have To

Why turn on the heating when you can go shopping for jumpers instead?

It's suddenly cold. And your landlord's a knob who won't let you turn the heating on, right? Well, we've got things to buy to sort that out over here, but isn't a great massive winter knit more fun than heatproofing your bedroom. Course it is. Which is why I headed over to Urban Outfitters to try on all their knitwear for this week's Changing Room Selfies.

And leave feeling practically glad it's freezing outside.

While it might be cold outside; but changing rooms are still warm. So if you try this jumper on, don't say I didn't warn you that within ten seconds you're going to boil. It's like wearing a labrador. In a good way. When you're wearing a gigantic sexless jumper, sometimes it doesn't hurt to pair it with something that reminds people you do have flesh, like these 'Twerk' jeans. Terrible name, gigantically great rips.

The Graphic Knit

I like to think that if Regina George was cold, she would dress like this. Possibly with tights. Sure, this made me feel a little bit like 'Winter Cheerleader Barbie', but strangely that didn't feel like a bad thing. The jumper isn’t as soft as it could be, but it's 95% acrylic and only £42, so let's give it a break. And the plus side of it not being too squishy is that it doesn't add bulk and so you can wear it under a coat without fainting on the tube.

Gucci did a sleevless dress on their catwalk that when paired with knee high boots and cat flick eyeliner so looked like all the best bits of the 1960s - and none of the sexist banter. Urban Outfitters did the sensible thing, and instead of making a baby pink version like Gucci's, they picked a burgundy shade that we can actually wear in winter with boots and coats and jumpers, like this multicoloured one. It's great.

**The Back To Front Cardi

**

Who said cardigans are frumpy? Well whoever it was, were wrong. While short, fitted cardis might remind us of librarians, there's nothing better than a slouchy one that you can throw over anything. My advice would be to wear it like a normal cardi over a shirt or T shirt to the office with these tailored cropped trousers, then whip off your top, turn it backwards, and you're ready to hit a bar post work.

Cardigan, £45; Checked trousers,£45

**The Grown Up Roll Neck

**

Knitwear doesn't have to be casual, and if you find a really good quality fine knit roll neck, you can pair it with pretty much anything, from a pair of jeans to this floor length sequinned skirt. A good outfit for Christmas day, when you want to feel full of festive spirit but need something swamping to hide your post dinner food baby.

**The Classic Fair Isle

**

I've been obsessed with fair isle knits ever since Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas video. (And if you don't remember that - click here immediately). There's just nothing that says 'I'm ready for mulled wine' quite like a bit of that chintzy print. This one is really soft, with fluffy tufty bits. The downside being that you will probably end up with fluff in said mulled wine. Still, that's what winter's all about, right?
