CRS

It's the high street stalwart, Gap. Whenever I go in there I get the same feelings of maternal warmth washing over me that I do when I go into John Lewis. It reminds me of simpler days - when jeans and a t-shirt was all you needed to feel sharp.

Unlike the rest of the high street, you never want to kill yourself when battling your way around Gap. Maybe it's the abundance of crisp cottonwith clean vibes, but I'd totally recommend to anyone on a hangover to go hang out in Gap for an hour or two. You'll feel like you're on Cape Cod in a Nicholas Sparks movie in no time.

Gap's not known for its cutting edge fashion, but what it is known for is great staples. And right now they've got pretty much ever spring hero piece you could wish for. Oh, and their changing room asisstants? Total dreamboats. They let me take tons and tons of clothes in for this episode of CRS.

The shirt dress

GAP-01

The opposite of mumsy when worn with trainers. Love this stripey one, it's as comfortable as a dressing gown - and not entirely dissimilar to one visually, either.

Striped Flared Shirt Dress, £32.99

The pyjamas as clothing thing

Take your cue from Alexander Wang who sent unbuttoned pyjama shirts and boxer shorts down the runway - this broderie anglaise tank top and matching shorts is totally from the nightwear section but is totally applicable as daywear. Let's call this the definition of anti-festival festival wear. Now give me a cider.

Eyelet Poplin Dress £24.95 and Stripe-Waist Eyelet Poplin Shorts, £14.95

A trench coat

The trench coat (or mac) is having a serious renaissance, what with its ability to transform every outfit into a chic one whilst being lightweight enough to not make you break out in a sweat as the weather becomes milder. This is such a well-made, classic trench and is a damn good doppelganger of the Burberry one.

Classic Trench £59.95

A denim jacket

Need we persuade you further of the relevance of the denim jacket? We need not. Love this collar-less one, which reminds me of the much more expensive MiH banger. Very tempted, very very tempted.

1969 Collarless Cuffed Denim Jacket £44.95, Pleated Skirt Flounce Skirt (above skirt in store, on sale) £34.95

A matchy matchy co-ord

How cute am I? Don't you just wanna eat me? Love that Gap have an entire collection in this seriously choochy print, which enables you to make a co-ord out of not just the regular combination of a top and skirt, but a dress with a button-down shirt under it. Could be too cute for comfort, but 'Lily Allen' it up with some trainers and you're all good.

Floral Sateen Dress £39.95 and Sleeveless Shirt (available in store) £29.95

A chambray shirt

Which div said that shirts aren't sexy? Probably the same guy that invented the 'uptight secretary' stereotype. OK, so this pale blue linen shirt isn't strictly a chambray shirt, but it's good enough. Wear unbuttoned as low as you dare with everything from leather trousers to flippy mini skirts and denim cut-offs and look v.Gallic and feel v.comfortable.

Fitted Boyfriend Linen Shirt, £34.95 and 1969 Deconstructed Real Straight Straight Jeans, £44.95
