Topshop: the land of all that is great and good in style. The land of great quality leather, sharp cuts, soft sweaters and hard denim. For my fashion week edition of Changing Room Selfies, it was a no brainer where I would go. I mean, what's the hottest ticket at London Fashion Week? Topshop Unique. Exactly.

As ever, I was far from short of looks and ended up buying the checkered poncho at the end. Standard.

But enough about me. Here's what else you should snap up:

A sassy little shirt dress

It's a shirt dress, but with tuck pleats to emphasise the boobs and a very short skirt: it's a good new shirtdress rule to have. Wear with thigh high boots for a matron-whose-got-the-horn style, or ankle socks and brogues for everyday.

The knitted pencil

Knitwear's gone south this season. Ho ho. I mean the pencil skirt, perverts. This khaki green ribbed number came with a matching crop top - great for the co-ord lover, of which knitwear is the hot new contender – but equally try it with a reworked crop top (it's all about the asymmetrical hem now), whilst the weather is still nice and a normcore grey trench.

Le freak c'est chic

LOL. Instead of shit happens. Cos it's fashion week. GEDDIT? It's an obvious choice of sweater, I'll grant you, but if you want to do low-key fashions then a grey sweater and patent leather A-line skirt is easy. (PS – you don't have to be tall to wear this mini skirt.)

Faux-fur coat

If going in wholesale with the faux fur (i.e. a whole coat) is too much for you, then what about just a trim? No chance of sweaty boobs in this airy number. Plus, the faux-fur stole is detachable so then you just have a very thin, minimalist black throw-on coat going on. Plus it has side splits. Side splits are VERY FASHION right now. Not that you need to know that in order to wear it. But, y'know. Equipping you with knowledge nonetheless.

The bomber jacket

You gonna be seeing the bomber everywhere for the rest of 2014. Fact. This ultimate bomber really is the ultimate and a lovely neat fit – if you are a short ass, like me, then they can err on the bulky – and dresses down a white frock with faux fur hem. Yes, hem. Very Alexa on the FROW, wouldn't you say? If you're going to do it, go in for the whole glossy hog with neat little court shoes and a box bag, or grunge it up with some boots and a bomber. The hem won't know what's hit it.

The cape meets waist-tie combo

The merging of a big spring trend with a big autumn trend is pure alchemy, wouldn't you say? Maybe not. But here you have a checkered cape – the high street has capes and ponchos coming out of its ears this season – 'belted', if you will, with a grey jumper. Not only does a casual cinch give a cape some semblance of silhouette, but it also means you have a jumper for later. Forewarned is forearmed!
