This was an exciting week to execute Changing Room Selfies, because it was finally warm enough to brave bare legs. And in the spirit of spring, I headed down to Forever 21, the super-fast provider of eternally summer-ready US import, which is great but always leaves me a bit stressed and hot under the collar over the sheer amount of stuff in their stores.
It didn’t disapoint – with excellent price points, fun stock and changing rooms big enough to do full on dance moves in – I found so much spring stuff, I decided to break it down for you based on some key celebrity starlets.
If you wanna look like…. Harley Viera Newton
RocNation’s cutest Fashion DJ, Harley’s unashamedly girlie attitude would see her totally embracing this Coming Up Roses A-Line Dress, £18.75. You can actually wing this dress whatever the season: with tights and biker boots for winter and bare legs and Vans come summer. I like this one.
If you wanna look like…. Kate Bosworth
Ooooh, I’m quite proud of this one. Kate is never far from a camisole dress like this Peasant Whimsy Dress, £19.75, Utility Jacket, £40.75 and a pair of chic shoes (these one are Toshop, fyi) come summertime. Lose the mules and you’ve got an eternally ‘safe’ (and by that I mean reliable, not sick) summer BBQ get-up there, too.
If you wanna look like… Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
God, it’s seriously no fun trying to look like RH-W. One’s always going to fail, there. That said, cropped black leather trousers (similar here) and a printed peasant blouse like this Wild Wonder Top, £16.75, are very much RH-W’s day-to-day springy/summer uniform. Like all stylish women with lots of moolah, Rosie worships at the boho rock altar of Ms Marant. Consider this a homage to both wonderful women.
If you wanna look like… Selena Gomez
Not entirely convinced by my own image, here. But Selena’s big into the luxe sweatpant and a cropped top. These Zippered Chambray Joggers, £18.75, are pretty cool and a stripey crop top like this Throwback Striped Crop Top, £6.50, are a useful addition in every women’s summer-wardrobe arsenal.
If you wanna look like… Emma Stone
She’s all about the classic-but-cool lady dresses (normally from Lanvin), is the Stoner – though, I can’t currently get hold of her to affirm or dismiss my presumptions. Either way, I think this Sweet Side Striped Dress, £16.75 is very ‘her’. I like this a lot; it would look great with any footwear and any jacket on anybody and everybody. (Can you tell I am getting tired?)
If you wanna look like…. Pixie Lott
I had a very specific image of Pixie in my mind, when I did this. She was at a festival and also wearing full make-up and a flowery head band. She definitely wasn’t wearing a pair of ankle socks. I can only liken my choice to photograph and publish my wearing these Femme & Free Crop Top, £12, and Baja Goddess Woven Shorts, £11.50, as akin to someone thinking it’s a good idea to get wasted at the office party, photocopy their ass cheeks and leave it on their boss’ desk. I regret it, like you regret that fourth Krispy Kreme. Sorry.
