Dressing for fashion week is no mean feat, and normally involves me trying on everything I own, painc-buying a brightly coloured faux fur, and then just wearing head-to-toe navy on repeat. The heels on cobblestones thing would be hard enough, without the added factors of the Great British Climate, and bumping into everyone you’ve ever worked with. Oh, and that’s all while having your picture taken – or at least appearing in the background of pictures of other people (I can mostly spotted in the background of every picture of Alexa Chung ever taken at LFW). Having put off shopping until the last minute – mainly because I was hoping that a few Barrecore classes would cancel out all the cheese and wine, and shift a dress size in a week – I’ve turned to Toppers to sort out my wardrobe in one fell swoop. And emerged with a pair of go-with-everything kick flares and some Mary Janes par excellence…
The floral dress
This printed dress is one of those versatile little numbers that will be in my wardrobe for years to come. One-stop dressing for when I am inevitably running late for a 9am start on Sunday.
The statement coat
A leopard print coat makes a bold statement without too much faff or spangle.
Leopard print coat, £89; Boutique jeans, £55; gold shoes, £65
The non-boring jeans and jumper combo
This longline navy duster will make my everyday denim-and-a-knit staples look more polished – and voila, instant grown-up.
Coat, £89; jumper, £29; Boutique jeans, £55; shoes (not available online yet)
THE Shoes
I’m obsessed with these shoes. Obsessed. Snakey, strappy, and very nearly flat – what’s not to like?
Patent coat (not available online); shirt, £38; selvedge jeans (not available online yet); Shoes, £46
The trench
I call this my Inspector Clouseau look. And yes, I do intend to wear these gold heels with everything.
Trench coat, £79; Boutique Breton, £35; selvedge jeans (not available online yet); gold shoes, £65
The pleated skirt
Normally, I avoid pleats like the hip-widening plague, but I’m on board thanks to a little bit of layering.
