We Tried On All The Best Party Dresses In Topshop So You Don't Have To

The weather has officially plunged to minus freezing and the dark has set in for the majority of our waking hours. But it’s not all onesies and taking your duvet out with you in the guise of a jacket. Luckily, thanks to a little thing called party season, the forthcoming months come with a little added cheer. Yup, the invites are rolling in, the food and drink are laid on thick and we’ve never needed a better excuse to don the glitter and sequins.

I went to Topshop to try on the very best of the party dresses. AND, they won’t break the bank.

1. The Christmas Ornament One

The-Christmas-Ornament-One-

Topshop do party dresses well, and by that I mean very well. I love this green and black sequinned bodycon one-shoulder number. Leave the accessorising to a minimal and rock this with confidence, safe in the knowledge it’s ticking all sorts of trends in one.

2. The Slip Dress One

This midi camisole dress is so much more than just a party dress. Wear a turtleneck under it, tie a shirt around your waist, rock a pair of trainers. The party dress for the can’t necessarily be bothered.

3. The Who Needs Trousers One

With velvet lapels and a tinselled design, this dress is uber flattering. Add sky-high heels, a statement necklace and werk. A super cool take on the tuxedo.

4. The If You’re Not Feeling An Actual Dress One

Because who said a party dress needs to be an actual dress, right? This luxe crinkled velvet jumpsuit is super cute, and I love that you can cinch it in (or out) at the waist. I kinda put it on wrong, judging by Topshop’s image (hahah oops!) but I kinda like my (accidental) twist on it, too, actually.

5. The Space Odyssey One

At under £40, this dress is a serious win. I think it was actually my favourite of all the ones I tried on; super easy to wear and very flattering to an hourglass figure. I’m counting on it to well-disguise all those carbs I’m likely to be stuffing my face with in the coming weeks and months, while helping me feel like a G in the process.

Foil Spot Midi Dress, £39

6. The Oops I’ve Been Naughty

Because now that we’re no longer afraid of ending up on Santa’s naughty list, surely half the point of Christmas is the debauchery, right? With all over lace and contrasting sheer, this is a super sassy take on a party dress that will carry you well into New Years. Wear with high heels to elongate the legs.

Coated Lace Playsuit, £89

7. The Christmas Pudding One

This is, to be honest, not something I would normally wear but there’s something about the party / Christmas season that makes you wanna yell faaak it and don all the sparklies. With its roll neck and long sleeves, this 80s inspired mini is hashtag winning.
