If You Love The ‘Baxter’ You Need To See Topshop’s 4 New Jeans

Who can forget their first pair of Topshop jeans? Mine was the Jamie, which I wore until a hole on the top thigh transitioned from ‘Fashion’ to hypothermia risk. With the retailer selling a pair of jeans every five seconds (globally), it’s a widely accepted fact that their denim has a cult following. As of this very morning, they are introducing four new styles and we expect them to become household names just like the ‘Joni’, ‘Dree’ and ‘Mom’.

The first from the new collection to drop was the £49 ‘Editor’ jean. This high-waist straight leg style that’s cropped to graze the top of an ankle boot has already racked up nearly 30,000 likes on Instagram. If the mass casualisation of the office dress code is anything to go by, we’re getting increasingly less tolerant of being told what to wear. What’s next, the drainpipe ‘influencer’ or the low-rise, stonewashed ‘IT Consultant’?Incredulity aside, the ‘Editor' we hear is selling like hotcakes, which makes sense as it’s the sort of inoffensive silhouette that can effortlessly accompany both Out-Out tops and natty cardigans.

The ‘Editor’ is joined by the ‘Ballooned Boyfriend’, a slouchy tapered non-stretch jean; the ‘Slim Wide’, which fits more like a culotte; and the ‘Dad’, which has a mid-rise waist and two artfully ripped knees.

‘Though the Jamie continues to take the top spot, we are excited to see our customers’ reactions to our four new fits,’ says Anthony Cuthbertson, Design Director, Topshop. ‘We’ve also expanded our library to include an 80’s acid wash for the new season, and focused on hem detailing and ripping across multiple silhouettes. This season denim jeans no longer feel like a staple used to complete a look, instead they take centre stage.
