If you're a millennial, The Hills was probably a seminal moment in your style education. As Natasha Beddingfield sang in the theme song, 'Reaching for something in the distance / So close you can almost taste it / Release your inhibitions / Feel the rain on your skin.' Well, I did release my inhibitions circa 2006. I tried the pedal pushers with a babydoll dress (thanks for nothing LC!), the bolero cardigans (terrible at the time but somehow making a comeback), the sporty sunglasses and the boot-leg jeans. As you can probably tell from that list, it was a very mixed bag from the '00s hall of fame. Keep scrolling to see how many entries you recognise from the list below. And remember: 'The rest is still unwritten.'

The Headband
Ah, Lauren working in the fashion cupboard of Teen Vogue - does it get any better than that? Not in my book. She definitely went through phrase of wearing this thick black headband to work, sometimes pairing it with a string of pearls for extra polish. Not her worst, IMHO.
The Bubble-Hemmed Dress
Instead of bodycon, The Hills girls preferred wearing a style of minidress that still seems mystifying all these years later. Will we ever understand the need for a bubble hem?
The Strappy Top
Did any other top apart from the strappy top exist in 2006? This trend, to be fair, hasn't aged too badly. All the cool girls are still wearing them - Hailey Bieber, Zoë Kravitz, you name it - although maybe the side-parted super fringe hasn't fared so well.
The Waist Belt
The enormous waist belt! If I had strung all of mine together, the resulting chain of hideousness would probably stretch from here to LA (almost). Whitney pulls it off (just about).
The Twisted Hair
And finally, not a fashion trend but a beauty lesson: twisty bits of hair. Did anyone else spend the whole of sixth form and university trying (and failing) to perfect the subtle art of twisty bits of hair?!
