Aah, the Teen Choice Awards – so much excitement, so much colour, so much that can go wrong on the red carpet. This year, however, there were very few clangers.
Rita Ora wore a scarlet trouser suit, teaming it with red wedges and faded red hair. While Modern Family star Sarah Hyland rocked a canary yellow crop top and shorts combo (very 'Taylor S') and Keke Palmer looked beautifully chic in monochrome with a touch of pink. Victoria Justice got onboard the Seventies trend with a green dress so full of fringing it basically required its own hairdresser, whilst Lucy Hale looked black tie-appropriate in a Julien Macdonald midnight blue and black number.
Nina Dobrev gets a tick from us for her red, pink and black slashed-effect dress, as does Emma Roberts for her belted, off-shoulder, muted rainbow-coloured outfit. Lea Michele's prom dress was another winner (literally, in it she won an award) and Chelsea Staub and Zendaya effectively worked monochrome elegance.
Those who opted for slightly more unconventional choices included Lindsey Stirling, who wore a fantastic pair of floral dungarees but teamed them with black clunky boots and a black long-sleeved top – a tad unseasonal for mid-August – whilst Mae Whitman's Novis dress stood on the quirkier side of unusual.
So that was the red carpet. Now, to the stage... One person in particular stands out (Sarah Hyland). For whilst she very much rocked the red carpet, she got people talking when she almost tripped up on stage, and was captured on Vine.
In case you're wondering, the audio went something like this: 'Are you f***ing kidding me?!'
She then said “I do that sometimes, guys. I’m awkward, you know...I kinda got it out of the way for everyone else.”
Sarah, ever the pro, tweeted about her clumsy ways and laughed at herself after the event, joking how she was like a graceful swan.
That said, that was it for drama on the night. Till next year...
