Target's New Swimwear Range Is Making It Easier For Everyone To Shop Bikinis

Life is tough when you’re incapable of ordering swimwear online because you don’t know how it’s going to fit. But now, gone are the days of ordering a bikini top and having to utterly chance it on whether or not it’s going to cover more than your nipples.

Although we’re seeing a rise in body positivity and a wider range of models, it’s still far too uncommon to see a bikini top modeled on someone with bigger than DD cup boobs. Even ASOS’s ‘fuller bust’ brand is usually modeled on 32DD’s - which, considering they’re made up to size 38G, isn’t particularly helpful to anyone else.

Luckily, Target’s new range has kicked off with the Instagram tag #targetswim, and is filled with models of all sizes, so there’s a suitable comparison for everyone.

Denise Bidot, one of the models, emphasized how the campaign puts focus on self confidence and individuality. She said ‘When you’re a curvy girl it can be hard to find a suit that fits perfectly in all the right places, but Target definitely has accomplished that with their swimwear.’

The line also features pro skateboarder Lizzie Armanto and TV host Kamie Crawford, who’ve posted their favourite shots of the line on Instagram.

The positivity surrounding the new collection comes at the same time as Simply Be has been criticized for doing the opposite. The British retailer, which sells up to size 28 and is a popular brand for plus size women, recently released their own new collection: modeled entirely on women thought to be size UK 14-16.

The new campaign, called ‘We Are Curves’ faced some controversy on Twitter:

Regardless, unless you're jetting off somewhere hot, you're not going to be needing new swimwear in Britain anytime soon...
