Polkadots are the new gingham. Hell, you don't care about that, do you. All you need to know if that the happiest pattern is making a re-appearance. And who doesn't want to be in an 'itsy bitsy teeny weeny purple polkadot bikini', this summer? We haven't actually found one of those for you. But we have found lots of great ways to wear polkadots, mined from our ever favourite source: Instagram.

Go classic

Polkadots are less Mr Blobby funtimes and more romantically chic, when paired with a straw boater and brogues, like blogger Fifi Lapin.

Think of it as a neutral, like breton

Take heed from streetstyle darling and Danish supermod Caroline Brasch-Nielsen and use polkadots as a staple print; a navy polkadot long-sleeved tee layered under medium wash dungarees, for instance.

Pack in as much as possible

Such a mish mash of prints should look batty - but doesn't this look wonderous? It works because she's varied the size and colourway of the polkadots, whilst throwing in some more pared back prints, like this Missoni print jacket.

Try it as a jeans + tee

She's hardly your standard 'jeans + tee' kinda girl, is Susie Bubble - but when the t-shirt is comprised of contrasting swatches of polkadot and the jeans are floral print, the whole thing becomes more fun and typically Bubble. Take a tip from Susie and poke your shirt tails out the bottom.

Go haute

Polkdots can be serious, pal - just look for options in black. A split, sheer panelled polkadot maxi skirt is positively catwalk ready.
