Perhaps as an antidote to fast fashion, vintage clothing (at least in The Debrief's world) has become of increasing importance. There's almost nothing we like more than browsing Rokit, Etsy and the suchlike. This spring (pah - more like winter with a tea caddy on top) we're really into retro tees, because they go excellently with all the vintage mom 501s and dungarees also banging around.

Here are some of our favourites nicked from Instagram - which should give you some tips in how to wear them and how to style 'em (as for accruing them, we'd start with the brilliant Beyond Retro.)

Cartoons are cool

When they're old favourites and worn with something old school like corduroys. Less cool with neon beach shorts. Kay?

Go sporty

Try a faded Adidas one, with something distinctly un-sporty, like a long sleeveless shirt and some lace shorts.

Sink the beer, wear the tee

OK, we can't all be Haim. But we can all wear a basic white alcohol tee - this one features Coors beer - with loose hair and black sunglasses.

If you can't make it, fake it

We'll let you in to a little secret here; a retro tee doesn't have to actually be retro. We love those at Stella Jean and skate brand Bianca Chandon, who make super-soft retro-type tees, with witty slogans - as excellently modelled by Grace Small.

Be the band

Lol, obviously you can't be Guns 'n Roses. But as band tees go, along with the much bastardized Rolling Stones' ones, these are among the best. Wear with a choker like blogger Le-Happy and get drrrrty.
