There are a few certainties you can always expect to see at Fashion Week: a blogger in shoes that look like an art project, novel ways to wear simple things like jeans, Olivia Palermo.
You’ll also always see warm, chic, neutral tones – khaki, beige, camel, brown envelope, call it what you will. They always make their way into a collection somewhere, most notably this season paired with bright, sky blue at Jonathan Saunders.
‘Every season we have to invent a new word for camel. This time it’s sand,’ we overheard one wry show-goer observe.
There it was on the street too, providing a pleasingly low-key contrast to some of the wilder street style that looked like it came with its own Instagram filter. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that’s boring. Think camel with an electric clutch or a navy jumper and tan leather skirt rather than country club casual chinos and a blue shirt.
Here’s how you can buy into the trend now...
Mango sleeveless midi-coat, £79.99 ASOS; Fluffy crew-neck jumper, £36 Topshop; Tailored dungarees, £27.99 Missguided; Peg-leg trousers, £38 River Island; Selected Femme leather skirt, £43.95 Anthropologie
