The Story Behind Sofia Vergara's "Sexy" Wedding Gown

A list weddings are often top secret affairs (cough cough Jennifer Aniston), with at best one or two carefully selected images released. But Sofia Vergara invited us all to her wedding, as at the time of typing she had posted 18 pictures on Instagram.

On Sunday Sofia and Joe Manganiello got married in a room full of flowers at the Breakers Resort in Palm Beach in Florida. First things first, let's talk about the dress. Sofia wore a custom strapless Zuhair Murad Couture gown with a full delicate hand-embroidered skirt and mermaid neckline which she paired with Lorraine Schwartz diamonds. According to reports it took 32 people 1,657 hours to make the gown, with 350 crystals, 11 pounds of sequins and seven pounds of pearls.

The designer said to PEOPLE: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with Sofia on her dream wedding gown. I wanted Sofia to look phenomenal on her wedding day, showing off her hourglass physique and enhancing her famous curves. She expressly said that she wanted to look sexy, so I created a design that blended soft sensuality from the transparencies of tulle with the ornate glamour of ornamented embroideries and mini pearls.”

Sofia said to Martha Stewart Weddings about how she wanted to look: "Your wedding is not the time to try new things -- you're going to have these pictures forever. My body looks better when I have fitted dresses with more support. I’m 43, so I can’t really be looking for something too crazy. I have to go with what looks good on me."

Sofia has posted pictures of the couple exchanging vows at the alter under an arch of orchids, having their first dance and walking the aisle.

There were 400 guests at the wedding including Reese Witherspoon, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, Harvey Weinstein and wife Georgina Chapman, Ariel Winter, Sarah Hyland and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
