So you’ve seen the cute pics of David and the Beckham brood on the front row, but what are the in-the-know fashion things to say about Victoria Beckham’s show? Here's your cheat sheet. Think of it like the York Notes of New York Fashion Week.

1. On the fashion:

'There were some key fashion references in this collection. The giant ruffles which appeared on jumpers and dresses had echoes of Dries van Noten’s Spring ’14 while the purist, high-necked pieces and sheer panelling recall the Spring ’13 Givenchy collection. But VB made the references her own by cutting them in her androgynous way and applying the nod to her signature shapes like '60s tunic dresses.'

2. On VB’s design approach:

'Victoria designed each look so that it would look good from every angle. This is important to her for obvious reasons like paparazzi. For me, it just means I project a good view to whoever’s standing behind me on the tube/escalator/in the Starbucks queue. Win win.'

**3. On Harper’s shoes: **

'There have been concerted efforts in fashion land recently to bring back the ballet pump. Hedi Slimane devoted an entire Saint Laurent campaign to the cause. Harper appears to be the latest recruit in her nude pair. Question is, will I be taking style notes from a 2.5 year old?' (Answer: probably, when it's Harper.)

4. On the family selfie:

'The family front row selfie conflicts me. Obviously, it was heart-meltingly cute. But my cycnical side sort of tells me it was the Beckham family bid to be up there with the Obama/Thorning-Schmidt episode in the selfie hall of fame. Plus: why would one of the world's most photographed men want to take a selfie?'

5. On one of the best coats in the show:

'The red and black tweed coat was actually based on a vintage sample from 1968.'

6. On the make-up:

'Backstage, the make-up look by beauty genius Pat McGrath was described as "the ultimate nude". Another nod to Beckham’s allegiance to pared-back, seemingly effortless fashion philosophy.'

7. On the Manolo Blahnik show shoes

'Beckham styled many of her looks with pointy flat brogues by Manolo Blahnik – even a pretty fancy red dress. This means I have a legitimate fashion excuse to do the same, thus feeling both comfy and achingly on-trend simultaneously – thanks, VB.'
