Haven't watched Basic Instinct since a mid-noughties sleepover where you had too much Haribo and got overexcited about seeing Michael Douglas's bum? (It was disapointing, right?) Well it's time to Netflix it again because Sharon Stone is this week's unexpected style icon. Why? Here's your #NTK - think of it like the York Notes of the fashion world.

**Go on then, why Sharon Stone? **

No, not because of vajayjay - surely the most paused 'blink and you miss it' scene in cinematic history. But because she looks epically brilliant for the entire film. Loosely pinned back blonde hair, a classically minimalist, nineties style in muted putty tones and minimal jewellery is getting us all excited again.

**Who else is into it? **

Don't just trust us, eh? Celine designer Phoebe Philo paid homage to SS in her last winter/autumn show, with a lot of white and a lot of shoulder going on. And it really worked.

**But how would I do that in real life? **

Think belted macintoshes made of tencel (or another thin material) that hit below the knee, poloneck shift dresses - like the iconic winter-white wool crepe dress she wore for the police interrogation scene was by costumier Ellen Mirojnick - suede court shoes, or sling-backs, chunky putty-hued knitwear (only as loungewear, mind) and the piece de resistance, a gold, backless lurex mini dress. Oh, and hold the jewellery. Just add some small gold hoops.

    **Anything to avoid? **

Not much. Minimalism a huge trend right now and the nineties have almost become a perennial - meaning that brand of fuss-free high-neck, short-hemline chic is never going to go stale. The only thing in her entire B.I. wardrobe we'd suggest you avoid is that gold shiny sweater worn with boot-cut jeans.

So should I REALLY do this?

In a word, yes. Just put some panties on, yeah?
