Get your debit card at the ready – this Friday is 'Black Friday' – aka a massive day for bagging great Christmas shopping deals. Black Friday originated in the US, with retailers offering flash sales the day after Thanksgiving to boost spending before Christmas. Now, much like the Big Mac and Victoria’s Secret, the genius yankee tradition has crossed the pond and we too can benefit from the shopping extravaganza.

It's worth knowing that Black Friday has pretty much developed into a whole weekend of discounted shopping, with Sunday nicknamed 'Super Sunday' and Monday hailed as 'Cyber Monday' – the day we're predicted to do the most online shopping before Christmas. So if you don't find what you're looking for on Friday, or you know, you're like, working, then make sure you scout out some deals over the weekend. Here’s our rundown of the stores you should be visiting and the best offers you should be looking out for.
Amazon
Amazon are running their biggest Black Friday event ever, offering sales every 10 minutes from 8am to 9pm daily from today onwards. Expect discounts on fashion, beauty and electricals (plus gifts for your boyf/dad/cat). Our top picks are YSL’s Touche Eclat (18 per cent off), Burt’s Bees hand and feet kit (35 per cent off) and these cool coloured GHDs (23 per cent off).

John Lewis
If you’re considering buying your boyf or your dad, or your female friend who happens to be really into tech gifts something gadget-y for Christmas, then you should definitely hit up John Lewis this Friday. Their Black Friday sale is offering savvy savings on techy items, such as the new iPad mini with three years free guarantee. Worth remembering that the British stalwart is 'never knowingly undersold' so if you see a deal somewhere else, make sure you compare it to good old JL.

ASOS
Our favourite online fashion retailer is getting in on the Black Friday action, with sales of up to 70 per cent off. The deals don’t go live until Friday, but if you can’t wait, check out the ASOS outlet, which already has huge discounts in the lead up to the weekend.
Gap
Gap have already started rolling out some of its Black Friday deals, such as huge discounts on denim, sweatshirts and classic plaid shirts. Check out these boyfriend jeans reduced from £50 to just £17.
eBay
Black Friday is going to be big for eBay, with deals on brands like Superdry at up to 60 per cent off, but its focus is on ‘Super Sunday’, where they’re going to be offering 104,000 deals. Apparently in the UK on Sunday we’re going to be buying five teddy bears, 57 board games, 99 tablets and 319 handbags per hour. We're going to need a lot of wrapping paper for that lot.
