Music and fashion go together like payday and the pub - ie, an absolute treat. Which is why here at The Debrief we're committed to getting people who know their music to pull together playlists that are perfect for getting ready sessions. So you can concentrate on putting on, cursing and then abandoning false eyelashes rather than worrying about what's going to be coming next from your iPod.
This week we've grilled DJ Fearney, who knows exactly what she's talking about after working the decks at the first of #hmlovesmusicroadshow H&M Loves Music Roadshow events in Southampton. Performing to hoardes of H&M fans who scoured the rails at this shopping-event-slash-club-night, she definitely found out what gets people in the mood. (PS: want to go to the next one in London? Details here.)
Here's her 10-track recommendation to make your weekend ace:
-
DJ Snake ft Lil Jon - Turn Down For What
An absolute banger for me at the moment in clubs! It really is a sick tune which makes me want to get to the club, get on the decks and get people on the dancefloor immediately.
-
Beyonce ft Sean Paul - Baby Boy
This is a classic Beyonce track. When getting ready for a night out with the girls, it’s one to crank up really loud and start twerking to!
-
Kiesza - Hideaway (Gorgon City remix)
I was lucky enough to interview Kiesza a few weeks ago and she is really as quirky as she looked in the video. This a tune I have been supporting since I got it sent to me and am so happy it recently made it to number 1. It's a wicked debut track with a lot of 90’s influence. I can’t wait to see what else Kiesza has to offer.
-
Donaeo ft Carnao Beats - Gone In The Morning
Donaeo is known for making club bangers, for this forthcoming release he has teamed up with an old producer friend of mine, Carnao Beats who is known for making some amazing underground tunes. This is one of my favourite underground tracks at the moment and just gets me in the mood to get to the club.
-
Snoop Dogg - Jin & Juice
Although this song was released in 1994, it still never fails to pull me through… a hip-hop classic from Snoop.
-
Basement Jaxx - Red alert
They just don’t make tracks like this anymore. Taken off The Jaxx’s album Remedy which just fills me with nothing but good summer vibes for that perfect weekend in the sunshine with friends.
-
Chic - Good Times
All Chic’s music instantly makes you happy, it was hard to narrow down which one I love listening to most when I’ve got that Friday feeling, but this does exactly that. Makes you think of Good Times.
-
Sticky ft Ms Dynamite - Boo!
This takes me back to my garage days. Even now when I see Ms Dynamite perform this song I still love it as much as when I first heard it. For me it brings back great memories of getting ready to go out with the girls, the 2 hour decision on what outfit you will look fit in for the boys and then just having an epic night! The words are all about love for music, bass and getting hyped - which are all the key ingredients for a great night out.
-
TLC - No Scrubs
I remember when I first saw the video, I thought TLC were so cool. Everyone wanted to be Lefteye. The lyrics are still so catchy and hearing the word Scrub is always a good reminder pre-club to swerve any loser guys on a night out!
-
Rudimental - Waiting All Night
This track is just infectious! The mix of Drum'n'Bass and Ella Eyre smashing it on the vocals is so sick. It’s the perfect anthem to get the girls talking about the most recent guy they have a thing with...will he message me, won’t he?!
