Here’s a thought: this is one of the last paydays where you won’t have to at least start thinking about assigning funds to Christmas presents. Sorry, but don’t go shooting the messenger, because with that cloud of doom we bring you an incredibly shiny silver lining: this beauty of a Marc by Marc Jacobs sweater, £355.
It’s practical, so you’ll wear it with everything all winter, but that motocross detail sings ‘I’m a badass fashion babe’ with jazz-hands. There’s life in it too. Carven showed a Formula One inspired collection for S/S15 (yeah, we know that's cars and motocross is bikes, but you geddit), so those racer-sleeves will keep on giving trend-wise. It’s also comes from Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley’s debut collection for the brand, so it’ll one day be a nice little piece of fashion history too.
Plus, something with this much style kudos couldn’t be easier to pull off, either. Here’s how…
Prep it up
You can't beat a super-sharp shirt collar for taking a sweatshirt from Sunday afternoon slouch to serious business. All you need to smarten up your favourite skinny jeans.
Co-operative embroidered edge blouse, £42 at Urban Outfitters, Light Before Dark high-rise skinny jeans, £55 at Urban Outfitters, Perfect Ghillie Courts, £78 at Topshop.
Wear with flying colours
Make the blue and orange sleeve detail sing by pairing this sweater with an equally bright bottom half. Thanks to the grey of the sweater calming the whole thing down, it's colour blocking, the subtle way.
Acacia wool skirt, £205 D.EFECT, leather lace up booties with chains, £89.99 at Zara
Layer like you mean it
The embellished sleeves are the stand-out detail on this sweater, so you'll want to show them off even in a layered look. Try tying a shirt or jacket around your waist with a contrasting print or colour underneath.
Moto oversized striped jacket, £60, at Topshop, House of Holland True Romance bodycon dress, £110 at Urban Outfitters, leather lace up booties with chains, £89.99 at Zara
Total biker babe
If you feel like running with the biker-bake theme, you couldn't do better than wearing this sweater with leather. Mix it up and instead of going for the rather ubiquitous leather skirt or leggings, pick a pair of loose, cropped trousers like this killer faux-pair from Zara.
Cropped faux-leather trousers, £29.99 at Zara, Toma shoes, £45 at Monki, leather bumbag, £40 at Topshop
